My sporting background is
basketball, soccer, football,
hurling, etc, until I was about 30.
Did nothing for 6 or 7 yrs then
got into triathlon. One of the
advantages of triathlon is it does
not need the commitment of team
sports. I've a pretty hectic
schedule and 3 kids so I need to
have a flexible timetable. In terms
of the seperate disciplines I have
no preference, the variety is the
attraction for me.
My proudest moment came when I finished my first triathlon - Tri-
to-Beat Cancer 2005 - and the rest has been the icing on the cake.
I suppose my most embarrassing moment was crashing twice in
2009.
My biggest wish is for triathlon to become more accessible to
younger people who may not have the funding to take part.
Who do I want to beat? Everyone … especially from other clubs. To
paraphrase Roger Federer … "it's not that I  mind losing but I just
love winning". In other words try your best to win but if you don't
then so what.
