My sporting background - I have
always done running and completed 5
Dublin marathons in the 80's. I also
"try" to play golf.
I chose triathlon because I always had
an intrest in endurance sports and it
looked like good fun.
My first triathlon in 1982 in
Portmarnock!! It was a sprint
distance. I then entered for All
Ireland Triathlon (middle distance) in
Sligo which was a qualifier for Kona!
But I pulled out just before the race as
my swimming was not up to scratch!
I have to say there is no part of triathlon I dislike, in fact I love it all. I am
most happy when I am running and I perfer road running but also like the
odd forest run.
Proudest moment in triathlon – It has to be crossing the finish line in
IRONMAN Switzerland. Just goes to show what we can achieve if we put
our minds down to it. I always live by my moto "whatever you seek is within
yourself".
Embarrassing moment in triathlon – coming out of the sea last in the King of
the Hill Triathlon in Kinsale in 2006. However I got a big cheer!
My agenda for the future is IRONMAN 70.3 Galway and the National Series.
Who would I like to beat in the future? I havn't decided yet! But whoever he
or she is they better beware!
Ironman?? Been there and will go again!
