CONGRATULATIONS TO EVERYONE WHO TOOK PART

Results for the JEALOUS WALL and the MARSHALLS RACE.

Due to unavoidable technical difficulties we were unable to provide the final run times or Overall finish line times.  We were, however, able to refer to our manual backup for 100% result placement and for age categories.  We had a manual Bib entry cross checking system at the finish line. We apologise for the inconvenience and disappointment caused to all competitors.

The Event

Jealous Wall 063.jpgThe Jealous Wall Duathlon 2010 will take place in Belvedere House, Mullingar on Sunday 11th April starting at 10.00am.

The Course

The first run leg is a challenging 5k loop on trail paths. Transition is located on the lower terrace of Belvedere House and is followed by the bike leg which takes competitors on two 10k laps. The outward leg of each loop is fast and on newly surfaced road but returns on a more technical route. The second run leg (2.5k) returns competitors to the grounds of Belvedere and promises some variations from the original 5k loop, finishing under beside Belvedere House.

Athlete Guidelines

  • Only registered athletes may compete
  • Race consists of 5km run, 20km bike and 2.5km run
  • Race starts at 10.00 am
  • The Jealous Wall Duathlon is a Triathlon Ireland sanctioned race
  • Competitors are expected to have all equipment necessary for the race and that it is in road worthy condition
  • Race numbers will be provided at registration – numbers must be worn on the front when running and on the back when on the bike
  • Helmets are obligatory on the bike section
  • Once you have entered Transition, you must first attach and clip your helmet – only then may your bike be removed from the rack
  • On exiting the park, competitors must exercise caution on the approach to the exit gate as this area has a significant downhill section and is quite technical
  • Cycle on the left at all times
  • Rules of the road apply at all times – failure to comply will result in disqualification
  • Obey instructions from marshals and Gardai at all times – they are for your safety
  • There is a designated free wheel zone approaching the exit gate – this will be rigorously enforced
  • Drafting is strictly prohibited – draft marshals will be closely observing all those racing
  • Single file riding will apply throughout the course.
  • All competitors must reject any attempt by others to draft. ‘Draft Zone’ is a rectangle surrounding every competitor that is 3 metres wide and extends to 7 metres behind the front wheel of the competitor’s bicycle. The front edge of the front bicycle wheel will define the centre of the leading 3-metre edge of the rectangle. A competitor may enter the draft zone but must be seen to be making forward progress. A maximum of 15 seconds will be allowed for a competitor to pass through the draft zone. (ITU/ETU RULE 2005)
  • The draft zone of one competitor may not overlap the draft zone of another competitor. A competitor is overtaken when the front wheel of another competitor’s bicycle is ahead of theirs. It is then his/her responsibility to drop out of the draft zone, either sideways, or by dropping back.
