My sporting background is pretty
non-sporting although I did
always swim to do some form of
excercise! I got into triathlon
because 'someone' (Deirdre) got
me to the open day in 2009 by
promising that I could just do the
swimming as part of a relay team
but neglected to tell me how
persuasive the tri club members
can be ('Sure, just come along for
a cycle, we'll lend you a
bike.....we're doing a try-a-tri, give
it a go - you'll be well able!') and
also just how addictive it is!
My proudest moment was being told by one of the marshal's that I was
3rd woman out of the water in my wave in Dublin, as I struggled to get
onto the pontoon like a drunk seal!!
Embarrassing moment - see 'drunk seal' above!
My biggest triathlon wish is for my cycling and running to magically be
on a par with my swimming!! All triathlons are my favourite ... 5
minutes after I finish!!
Ironman? A whole one?? It's unlikely! A half one........it's also unlikely
but maybe not impossible!! In the meantime I might try a standard
distance (maybe!!) and avoid people who might try to talk me into Half-
Ironmen!!
