My sporting background is that I
do a ‘bit’ of cycling at my own
pace....... and I love watching the
Rugby!!
Triathlon picked me actually – I
was seconded to assist in the
organising of the first triathlon in
Mullingar in 2001 (I went to
Abbottstown where Joe Holton
explained the concept of a
triathlon to me!)  I never looked
back!
My first triathlon was Tri-To-Beat-
Cancer 2001 in Lilliput, an
incredible experience, great buzz
at the end of the day.
My proudest moment in triathlon was welcoming Prof John Crown to Mullingar in
January 2010 and hearing what all of us in  Midland Tri and the participants of Fighting
Cancer have achieve, it was overwhelming and uplifting, I was very proud to be a small
part of that.

Embarrassing moment in triathlon – Tri-To-Beat-Cancer 03 when Michael O Leary was
asked (not by me!) if he had the balance of his registration fee on him!!! He found it very
funny needless to say!!

Ironman? I presume you mean planning, as the athletes say “never say never”

Biggest wish for triathlon? I have met so many fantastic people from being an organiser
and also a TI race ref, my wish is that this will continue for a long time to come

My agenda for the future? To promote Fighting Cancer as a fundraising event but
equally to prove that there is a place for all of us in Midland Triathlon Club even non
competitors, like me!

Who would I like to beat in the future? I would like to beat the figure raised for CCRT
this year and add to it every year!!!
